For Bach, Budapest is a "strong" candidate for 2024 Games
Budapest is a "strong" candidate for the organization of the Olympic Games-2024 in the spirit of Agenda 2020, aimed at limiting competition costs, estimated Tuesday the IOC President Thomas Bach, visiting the Hungarian capital.
"Budapest is a strong candidate for the organization of the Summer Games of 2024, and it is clear that Hungary, like its capital, are well adapted to the reforms of Agenda 2020," said part of the 120th anniversary of the Committee Hungarian Olympic.
The Agenda 2020 is an initiative of Bach himself directed to decrease the Olympic budget after checking the extravagance of the Beijing Olympics and London, especially with the use of existing infrastructure or in any case temporary.
"Countries like Hungary and cities like Budapest can also organize the Olympic Games," said the leader of world sport.
Budapest's bid was based on "existing infrastructure in the city, with its beauty, which can provide great relief to some tests," he added.
Budapest, which will host the World Swimming Championships in 2017, and matches of Euro-2020 football, would take advantage of both events to be limited to 2,400 million euros the specific investment for the Games.
The Hungarian capital is one of the four cities that remain in contention to host the Games-2024 with the Angels, Paris, and Rome. The IOC will select the host city in 2017.
