Galicia gives the baton of the organization of WOMEX in the Hungarian city of Budapest
The city of Santiago de Compostela has given this Friday witnessed the organization of the World Music Expo (WOMEX) in 2015 at the Hungarian city of Budapest.
The official ceremony held in the City of Culture, has attended the Regional Minister of Culture, Jesus Vazquez, President of the Parliament of Galicia, Pilar Rojo, and the mayor of Santiago, Agustin Hernandez.
On behalf of the Community, has been Pilar Rojo has done handover of this international event to the Minister of Human Resources in Hungary, Zoltán Balog, after which he conducted a review of the Galician musical history.
The Regional Minister of Culture has taken the act to establish a parallel between Santiago status as a World Heritage Site and a meeting point of cultures and the Hungarian capital, which has highlighted its "historical significance" in European integration among peoples continental center.
Vazquez Abad recalled that Hungary is the birthplace of universal classical composers and teachers, today, Budapest has "vitality and energy of a new generation of musicians, traditional footprint but with an eye to the future" .
