The new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport Dubai World Central (DWC ) opened its doors Monday to the host's first commercial flight , according to the Dubai airport operator said in a statement .
Local representatives and aviation world attended the arrival of the first commercial flight operated by Wizz Air company , from Budapest . Airlines Gulf Air and Jazeera Airlines also attended the opening ceremony .
To the President of the Civil Aviation Authority and Dubai Airports Dubai , Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum , the airport " will be vital in the future development
of the city in commercial , logistics , tourism and social " .
This opening is one more step to get the manager's objective is to build airport and the largest airport in the world. The new terminal will have a track suitable for A380 aircraft and a capacity for seven million passengers per year.
Dubai Airports has so far confirmed MoUs with three airlines , Wizz Air, Jazeera Airways , Gulf Air, which have confirmed its operational data and frequencies and initiate activity in the coming months. Also, Dubai Airports is still in negotiations with other interested companies.
In the middle of this month , 1,200 city residents participated in the trial to test the readiness of the new terminal before opening.
